Why Student Protest in Bangladesh?
I am really suprised to hear that the problem will be so high. Now the situation in Bangladesh is very critical because all the school, college, universities are closed. Most of the university are vacant and students are asked to go back to their home town.
Student Protest in Bangladesh is for the demand to reform the quota system to recruit in the govt job sector. The movement is really logical because the quota system in Bangladesh for entering the job sector in an obstacle for the general students. Because there is lack Job circular in Bangladesh besides that this quota system makes the general students difficult to get a job.
What is Quota System in Bangladesh?
For the Bangladeshi Students after graduating they can apply for the job. the most prescigious job is the BCS cadre. This is the civil service job in Bangladesh. BCS jobs have a lots of power to implement for ruling a teritory or a sector.
So most of the graduate students wish be a BCS cadre in his life. Recently a person Abed ali, is convicted to provide illigally main exam peper in exchange of bribe. The students in Bangladesh and the job seeker are demotivated and frasted to observe this illigal practice in this important Exam.
Even this situation goes on, another long term movemnt to reform the quota system for the job sector is another issue, which makes the students difficult to get a job. So Graduates are agitated as a movement to reform the quota sytem from Bangladesh. In general sense, this quota or holding a post for the marginazed group or disabled people is ok but the quota for the freedom fighter`s children and grandchildren are 30% and this is too much. As there is almost no children of freedom fighter go for the jobs but most of them are grandchindren of Freedom fighter. Another issue is number of freedom fighter might be ambigous not robust.
Considering this graduate and upcoming graduates are go for the protest and this is the reason for Student Protest in Bangladesh.
Student Protest in Bangladesh is not a new!
In the university level, student in Bangladesh have a great role to make the Country Bangladesh. Because they protest the then Pakistan dictetor government. So, students movement have a great historical background.
According to my own observation, this is too much. Bangladesh government should think before this movement goes uncontrol.
The general students have the right to protest any discrimination for any demand to get a job in Bangladesh. Government should think about very seriously from the beginning. I observed that, initially government neglected or procrastinated the issues and try to settle the issue by the verdict of the Court Supreme.
General student demand was a long term problem to reform the quota system in Bangladesh. Many resent events influences this movement to outburst vigorously.
- University teachers movement to reform or eliminate the pension scheme.
- BCS examination question paper release illegally and send to candidate inexchange of huge amount of money/bribe.
Students from all over the country are now hesitated and didn’t have any faith to government. Most of the time people rely on the Prime minister’s talk but recently Prime minister Sheikh Hasina broadcast a live talk regarding this movement. The students didn’t find the solution or a positive initiatives from the government to reform the quota system.
Considering all of these things students get very angry and they go for the final movement.
According to my observation this is the failure of the government decision for any critical moment.
There are some after-work has been absorbed like
- Disconnection of Internet facilities throughout the country
- The restriction of using social media
That makes another problem to make this movement bigger and bigger, because the rest of the people of the country are also suffering for this internet disconnection and restriction of Facebook or other social media.
So this might be another bad decision from the government.
Recently, Bangladesh faces very unpleasant situation regarding the educational system in junior high school level. Education minister didn’t find any good and long-lasting solution for developing a SMART curriculum.
That’s the unpleasant moment for school teacher and some general people also.
So, there are many issues combinedly ignite this movement.
