ড. রমন কুমার বিশ্বাস পবিপ্রবি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ডিজাস্টার রেজিলিয়েন্স এন্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগের বর্তমানে অধ্যাপক। তিনি 2014 থেকে 2019 সেপ্টেম্বর মাস পর্যন্ত জাপানের Tohoku University তে Earth Science বিভাগে MS leading to PhD প্রোগ্রামের আওতায় MS ও PhD ডিগ্রী সফলতার সাথে সম্পন্ন করেন। উক্ত বিভাগে প্রফেসর ডঃ Kunio Kaiho ছিলেন তার PhD সুপারভাইজার। তার গবেষণার বিষয় ছিল পার্মিয়ান সময়ের গণ বিলুপ্তির কারণ ও ফলাফল অনুসন্ধান করা। তার গবেষণার টাইটেল ছিল; Terrestrial ecosystem collapse and soil erosion before the end-Permian marine extinction: Organic geochemical evidence from marine and non-marine records. তিনি 2020 সালের ডিসেম্বর মাসে পিএইচডি ডিগ্রি সম্পন্ন করে স্ববিভাগে যোগদান করেন।

দক্ষিণ ইংল্যান্ডের একটি গ্রামে বিজ্ঞানী নিউটন ১৬৪২ সালে বড় দিনের একটি সুন্দর সকালে জন্ম গ্রহণ করেন। তার মায়ের নাম হ্যানা। নিউটনের জন্মের আগেই তার পিতা মারা যায়। যখন নিউটনের বয়স ৩ বছর তখন তার মা আরও একটি বিয়ে করে এবং নিউটন তার দাদির কাছে বড় হতে থাকে।
নিউটন এ সময় তার মাকে অনেক মিস করতো মনটা ব্যাকুল থাকতো এবং ভাবত তার মা মনে হয় আর নিউটন কে ভালবাসে না। সে খুব রাগান্বিত হত। নিউটন মাঝে মাঝে তার নতুন বাবাকে খুন করতে চাইত এবং তাদের নতুন ঘর বাড়িকে আগুন দিয়ে জ্বালিয়ে দিতে চাইত।
কিন্তু কেউই আইজাক নিউটনের এই রাগ বুঝত না।
তার এই মনের কষ্ট কেউই বুঝত না। সে সব সময় একটা কক্ষে একা একা সময় কাটাত। কারো সাথে কথা বলত না। শুধু মাত্র দু একটি শব্দ আসতো তার কক্ষ থেকে আর সেটা হল তার খেলনা হাতুড়ি আর করাত দিয়ে কাটার শব্দ। হ্যাঁ। নিউটন বাল্যকালে হাতুড়ি করাত এসবই নিয়েই খেলা করতো। তার মা ও দাদি এতোটাই ব্যস্ত থাকতো যে কেউই সেটা লক্ষ্য করে নি যে নিউটনের একটা ভাল দক্ষ হাত রয়েছে। সে তার হাতুর বাটাল ও করাত দিয়ে সুন্দর করে যেকোনো ছোট আসবাসবপত্র বানিয়ে দিতে পারত। শুধু চেয়ার টেবিল ই নয় যে কোন খেলনা তৈরিতেও তার হস্ত ছিল দক্ষ।
কেউই এমনটা ভাবে নি যে এই আসবাব তৈরির মানুষটি একদিন পৃথিবীকে পরিবর্তন করে দিবে……………………

ভূমিকা:
প্রাগৈতিহাসিক ঘটনা পর্যালোচনা করলে বোঝা যায়। ৬ কোটি ৬০ লক্ষ বছর আগে বিলুপ্ত হওয়ার পূর্ব পর্যন্ত বিশাল আকৃতির ডাইনোসর গুলো পৃথিবীতে ১৬ কোটি বছর রাজত্ব করেছিল। আর এই দীর্ঘ সময় রাজত্বের পর মহা শুন্য থেকে এক বিশাল উল্কা পিণ্ড বর্তমান মেক্সিকোর চিকশুলাব নামক এক জায়গায় আছড়ে পড়ে আর এর প্রভাবে তাৎক্ষনিক ক্ষয়ক্ষতি সহ দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে পৃথিবীর তাপমাত্রা বেড়ে যায় যাকে বলে বৈশ্বিক উষ্ণতার কারণে ধীরে ধীরে ডাইনোসরদের বিলুপ্তি ঘটে।
অনেকে ধারনা করনে যে, ডাইনোসরদের বিলুপ্তি সহ ওই সময়ে গন বিলুপ্তির ঘটনায় ৭০% প্রাণীর ধ্বংস হয়। এই সময়ের গন বিলুপ্তিকে বলে ট্রিয়াসসিক-জুরাসিক ( বা KT Mass Extinction বা K-Pg) গন বিলুপ্তি। ট্রিয়াসসিক-জুরাসিক (K-Pg Mass Extinction) সময়ে ডাইনোসর বিলুপ্তির আরও আগে ৪ বার মহা বিপর্যয় ঘটেছে যেখানে পারমিয়ান- ট্রিয়াসসিক (Permian-Triassic Mass Extinction, 252.0 Ma) সময়ে ৯০% পর্যন্ত প্রাণী মারা গিয়েছিল। পরিবেশের তাপমাত্রা বৃদ্ধির জন্য এই মহা বিপর্যয় ঘটেছে বলে অনেক ভূতাত্ত্বিক গবেষক প্রমাণ দেখিয়েছেন।
সুতরাং অতীতের যত মহা দুর্যোগ তার বেশির ভাগই বৈশ্বিক উষ্ণতা বৃদ্ধির জন্য দায়ী। আধুনিক যুগেও বৈশ্বিক উষ্ণতা বৃদ্ধি, টেকনোলজির উন্নতি, ৬ষ্ঠ গন বিলুপ্তির (6th Mass Extinction) জন্য অন্যতম প্রভাবক। আর এই প্রক্রিয়া এখন চলমান। অনেক বিজ্ঞানী প্রমাণ দেখিয়েছেন, আমরা আমাদের চারিপাশে তাকালেও তার প্রমাণ পাই। যেমন কিছু প্রজাতির পাখি আমরা আর এখন দেখি না আমাদের চারিপাশে। এমনি অনেক নাম না জানা প্রাণী ইতিমধ্যেই বিলুপ্তু হয়েছে।
টেকনোলজির উন্নতির সাথে সাথে যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থার যথেষ্ট উন্নতি হয়েছে আর এর ফলে করোনা ভাইরাস সমস্ত পৃথিবীতে মুহূর্তের মধ্যেই ছড়িয়েছে। কিন্তু এই করোনা ভাইরাস গত শতাব্দীতে এতোটা ভয়াবহ ভাবে দ্রুত ছড়ায়নি। বিশ্বায়ন নিঃসন্দেহে মানুষের জন্য অনেক সহজ করে দিয়েছে। পৃথিবী এখন সবার হাতের মুঠোয় তবে এটা ঠিক যে এই বিশ্বায়নের জন্যই প্রাণী কুলের বিপর্যয় ও সহজতর হতে পারে। আধুনিক অস্ত্র যেমন পারমানবিক অস্ত্র মুহূর্তে ধ্বংস করে দিতে পারে।
পারমানবিক অস্ত্রের আঘাত চোখে দৃশ্যমান হলে ও পরিবেশ ও জল বায়ু সম্পর্কিত দুর্যোগ দৃশ্যমান নয়, দীর্ঘ মেয়াদে বোঝা যায়। ৬ষ্ঠ গন বিলুপ্তির চলমান প্রক্রিয়ায় ভীষণভাবে প্রভাবিত হতে পারে একটি জাতি আর সেটা হল মানব জাতি। এর প্রধান কারণ হল পরিবেশর জন্য হুমকি হয় এমন কাজ করা। এই মনুষ্য সৃষ্ট দুর্যোগ থেকে মানুষ ই মানুষ কে রক্ষা করতে পারবে। সবার আগে দরকার সচেতন । মানুষ যদি এই পৃথিবী ছেড়ে অন্য কোনো গ্রহে আবাস গড়তে পারে তবেই মানুষের বিলুপ্তি হওয়া থেকে রক্ষা করা যাবে।
বিজ্ঞানী স্টিফেন হকিং তার ” Brief answer to the Big question” বইটিতে সে সমন্ধে বিস্তারিত লিখেছেন। তিনি আরো পৃথিবীর মানুষকে সতর্ক করে দিয়েছেন যে মানুষ যদি অন্য কোনো গ্রহে আবাস গড়তে না পারে তবে ৬ কোটি বছর ধরে পৃথিবী তে একদা বসবাসকারী ডাইনোসদের মত করুন পরিণতি হবে। সুদূর ভবিষ্যতে মানুষ সৃষ্ট হোক আর প্রাকৃতিক কোন কারণেই হোক মানুষকে তার প্রজন্ম কে রক্ষার জন্য অবশ্যই অন্য কোন গ্রহে আবাস গড়া প্রয়োজন তার জন্য সব থেকে উপযুক্ত গ্রহ মঙ্গল-গ্রহ ছাড়া আর কি কিছু আছে?
